New Heli!
I took advantage of Amain's July 4th sale of 10% off orders over $100 and picked up my biggest heli yet! An Align 550e 3gx! This heli has a rotor diameter of almost 4ft! That's scary! I'm looking forward to building this sucker and flying it out at the field :)

I'm an AMA Member!
I got an AMA membership today! I needed one to join an all electric flying club which has its field next to Sea World. Once I get my AMA membership, I can apply for the club membership. I think this club mostly fly airplanes, but they have one helicopter pad. The other club I liked was one in Fallbrook, but they're membership is too expensive for how often I plan to fly. The upside of this club is they have a dedicated helicopter field though.
I'm doing all of this in anticipation of building an Align 550e 3gx! My first big helicopter! A model this big is not safe to fly in a park setting, hence I'm getting a membership to a flying club. Hopefully, I'll be able to learn flying much faster now that I'll have a place to fly :)

New parts!
Got a new battery for my CX2! The 850mah 25C ProTek pack from A Main hobbies :) Currently putting the 1st few cycles on it. Also picked up the remote light kit from the CX3, which I plan on mounting in the Seahawk body
I also re-did my mechanical pitch and pitch / throttle curves, using my new flybar lock from HeliProz. I was able to get my pitch curves symetrical again! Looking forward to flying it to see if the cyclic feels smoother. I also bumped up my throttle curves and will need to reset the gyro gain.

I'm back!
I recently started flying my helicopters again! What got me back into it was that a co-worker just picked up a Blade 400 and I've been helping him learn to fly.
I did get the mCX, and it's a nice little heli to fly indoors around the house. I also plan to pick up the mSR, and use it to practice nose-in hovering in my dining room :)
I crashed my Trex 450 awhile ago and just finally got it repaired at the urging of my co-worker, who just got into the hobby. It's flying again, but the set up on the head is not symmetrical, making it fly "broken"'. I picked up a flybar lock and am planning to get a swash leveler and new pitch gauge to re-do the set up on my Trex head.
I also finally upgraded my CX2 by adding an aluminum swash and head block. I also mounted up the Seahawk body and can now do rolling take offs! :) I want to add the remote light kit from the CX3 sometime in the future, but need to get a new battery, since the stock one had finally given up... I plan to pick up the Protek R/C 25C 850mah pack from A Main Hobbies, which should be a significant improvement over the 10C 800mah stock pack.
And I upgraded my EF Sabre with all new electronics! I used the 3n1 from the Blade CP Pro, an AR6100 Spektrum receiver, and Hitec servos. It's fun to fly when I want to "float" around in the sky, as I use old batteries in it that I can't use in my CP Pro, resulting in flight times near 15 minutes, since the motor draws so little current and I'm using 11.1V batteries.
I've also been practicing nose-in hovering on the my sim (Real Flight G3.5) and with the mCX, and am almost ready to try it with my Trex.

mCX on the way!
Wow! I haven't posted on this blog in awhile! That may change soon as I recently ordered my mCX that I posted about a few months ago :) I also repaired my CP Pro after crashing it back in October and I will also be mounting my Seahawk body on my Blade CX2 soon. Then I'll post some pics of my fleet :)
While looking around on A Main Hobbies site for CP Pro 2 parts, I stumbled across the new Align T-Rex 250 micro heli! It's a CCPM, belt-driven tail, micro sized heli! Oh man! Looks like I'll be adding another heli to my hanger! I also want to pick up an Align T-Rex 500 eventually. Still need to learn to fly the helis I already have though :)
